Metro area, Pivot Path Solutions, LLC , is a government contracting and business solutions firm that offers enterprise IT solutions, strategic and acquisition planning, organizational development, and medical research and analytics services to help customers adapt and thrive in changing market conditions. Pivot Path Solutions is seeking an experienced Blood Transfusion Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead and oversee programmatic support for the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP). The Blood Transfusion Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides senior-level expertise to support transfusion medicine programs within the Defense Health Agency and the Military Health System (MHS). The SME advises DHA clinical leadership, laboratories, and operational stakeholders on blood transfusion practices, blood product management, transfusion safety, and compliance with federal and military medical standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical and Technical Expertise

  • Provide subject matter expertise on transfusion medicine, blood banking operations, and blood component therapy.

  • Advise DHA clinical leadership and laboratory personnel on best practices for blood product utilization, compatibility testing, and transfusion protocols.

  • Support development and review of DHA transfusion policies, clinical practice guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

  • Provide technical consultation on emerging technologies, transfusion innovations, and blood safety initiatives.

Military Health System (MHS) Support

  • Support enterprise transfusion medicine programs across military treatment facilities (MTFs).

  • Provide recommendations to improve clinical transfusion practices, blood management strategies, and operational readiness.

  • Support DHA initiatives related to Patient Blood Management (PBM) and transfusion stewardship.

  • Collaborate with DHA program offices to align transfusion programs with MHS strategic priorities.

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulatory bodies, including:

    • U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

    • AABB

    • College of American Pathologists

    • The Joint Commission

    • DoD and DHA clinical governance policies

  • Support accreditation activities, internal audits, and quality assurance reviews.

  • Assist with development of transfusion safety metrics and performance monitoring frameworks.

Data Analysis and Program Evaluation

  • Analyze transfusion utilization data across DHA facilities to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Support development of clinical dashboards, utilization reports, and program performance metrics.

  • Provide evidence-based recommendations to optimize blood product management and patient outcomes.

Training, Education, and Collaboration

  • Provide education and technical training to clinical staff, laboratory personnel, and DHA program teams.

  • Participate in transfusion committees, clinical advisory groups, and working groups.

  • Facilitate collaboration between clinicians, laboratories, and DHA leadership to strengthen transfusion practices across the MHS.

Minimum Qualifications (Key Personnel Requirement)

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of program management experience.
  • Experience supporting DoD military and/or civilian customers.
  • Experience supporting medical, healthcare, or blood program operations within DoD.
