We are currently seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Systems Engineer / System Administrator with an active Common Access Card to join our team and support a local project. While this position is remote, preference is given to candidates located in the Washington, D.C. Metro area.


Project Description:
The objective of this project is to implement a Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) product across multiple environments (Pre-Production and Production) while providing ongoing operations, sustainment, engineering support, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) related tasks. RMF tasks include, but are not limited to, Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) creation, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG implementation, Assured Compliance Assessment Solutions (ACAS) scan analysis and mitigation, troubleshooting, and assisting the Lead System Software Engineer. Tasks will be documented and prioritized using an Agile collaboration tool Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).


Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Systems Engineering:
    • Obtain ACAS scans weekly and review/mitigate and findings.
    • Create POAMs for findings which do not have an immediate solution.
    • Implement STIGs to adhere to DHA compliance requirements.
    • Provide support for the planning, installation, integration, and maintenance of current and future versions of a deployed COTS system Entellitrak.
    • Provide Test and Evaluation (T&E) support for COTS system testing, including test process design, execution, and documentation.
    • Collaborate with development and security teams to ensure system availability of 96% for users.
    • Research and resolve system problems efficiently while adhering to organizational standards and best practices.
  • System Administration:
    • Monitor infrastructure and system installations, including configuration, testing, and maintenance.
    • Ensure system availability (96%), data integrity, consistent data flow, and backup management.
    • Perform routine system updates, security patching, and performance tuning with the team.
    • Administer user accounts, access controls, and security policies in accordance with client standards.
    • Support user issues through the ticketing system and develop a relationship with the user community.
    • Maintain and update documentation for operating system configurations, system dependencies, and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
    • Assist to identify, analyze, and resolve system and tool-related issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and administrators.
    • Become cross-functional so that when one team member is out you can step in to support their job functions to make the absence seamless to the government.
    • Support production issue resolution through incident response and proactive system monitoring.

Key Qualifications:
  • Must possess an ACTIVE Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of IT experience, including system integration and administration.
  • Extensive experience with POAMs, STIGs, ACAS scans, SCAP scans to support the RMF ATO process for accreditation.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT systems, networks, hardware, and software.
  • Strong written capabilities and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to operate in various deployment environments following written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of system security principles and experience in maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Experience implementing COTS solutions on DoD networks (preferred).
  • Familiarity with DoDI 5000.02 Agile development processes for DoD systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools for system administration.
  • Experience in database schema implementation and data management best practices
